I am an Instructional Designer and Learning Experience Designer designing learning experiences by utilizing human learning theory, analysis, and design.
With a Master’s in Education, I’ve spent my career analyzing problems, developing solutions to those problems, and designing and implementing learning solutions to increase growth. Breaking down challenging concepts and organizing them for deeper learning is one of my strengths.
Oftentimes we inadvertently treat symptoms to organizational problems. With the goal to increase learning to drive organizational growth, I use my strategic skills in analysis and action mapping to look beyond the symptoms to uncover business needs prior to developing or designing training.
The study of Human behavior has always enriched my work. Researching and studying how we learn has always naturally been a large part of my life’s work and self-education.
Research informs practice. Staying abreast of current research helps drive how I work and grow. Investing in myself through self-education is very important to me and helps empower me to make the highest contribution that I can. Being flexible, curious, and open minded, individual development comes easily for me. I like to say I have high intellectual humility and self-awareness which allows me to adapt and change as needed.
My globally diverse career as an Instructor in England, the Philippines, and South Korea has been integral to understanding myself more deeply, challenging cultural ideologies and biases, and connecting and adapting to the needs of others. This experience changed me personally and professionally and provided me with global perspective taking skills which not only impacts my development and design process, but has helped me become a connector, deepen my empathy and compassion skills, and handle some of the most sensitive and challenging situations.
Outside of career endeavors, I especially enjoy researching and reading to learn as well as reading to relax. I volunteer to advance literacy in my community by creating spaces for book sharing and as a board member for my public library. While traveling through over 20 countries, I became interested in capturing the stories I found myself immersed in. I started studying photography and continue to make photographs of the world around me as in the images below. The art of photography greatly enhances my visual design skills and guides me during the development stage of creating learning experiences.
